Appeal for funds: Stop Arming Israel campaign – background

Blocking the factory this July
Blocking the factory this July

On 6 July 2015, to commemorate last summer’s assault on Gaza which killed over 2,200 Palestinians, people from all over the country successfully blocked the Elbit-owned factories in Shenstone and Tamworth. Elbit is an Israeli company manufacturing parts for drones which are exported all over the world. Managing to shut down the factory for a day, in concert with activists around the world who shut down other Elbit locations in Kent and Melbourne, we sent a message to the UK government to stop arming Israel, and showed that we’ll target Israeli drone manufacturers with non-violent direct action so long as they make weapons to murder Palestinians.

Peaceful protest at the Elbit factory at Shenstone have been taking place for over 6 years, ever since the 2009 massacres in Gaza. Last year the roof of the Elbit factory at Shenstone was occupied for two days, with charges eventually dropped against all the activists involved.
