Through his camera we sense the fear as people wait at Palestine’s border crossings and checkpoints wondering when they will be aloud through. We hear interviews with people whose houses are being systematically destroyed in the Rafa area, at the southern tip of Gaza and in Khan Younis where Musheir lived for many years.

We see the rural area where Musheir grew up. Once it was fields of orange groves. Now it is a closed military zone. Musheir speaks to people whose land and livelihoods have recently been destroyed by Israeli tanks and bulldozers.
The amateur footage includes shocking images of collective house demolitions. It also features the hope of children currently growing up in refugee camps. We hear from children benefiting from donations by Sheffield Palestine solidarity campaign in refugee camps in Gaza – we see the happiness on their faces as they spend a few hours forgetting about the devastation all around them.

One young girl says: "The Israelis put explosives around our house and blew it up. Two boys in my neighbourhood were killed under the rubble. The following morning we went back to our demolished house to salvage what we could. I tried to find my books, but they were torn apart under the rubble."
A young man says ”Our ambition is to live normally like other young people. Free to play, free to move, free to express ourselves “

These interviews are now available as part or the 30 minute documentary  ”Voices through the Rubble“ which has been professionally edited and received enthusiastic praise at its launch in Sheffield in April 2004.
