Dance tour performances

Performances and workshops

Performances to a total of 950 people at sell out concerts in Sheffield, Bakewell (Derbyshire), York, Liverpool and Birmingham.

  • Over 100 people watched free public performances in Sheffield and York city centres and in a Birmingham museum.
  • Almost 500 children watched performances in schools in Sheffield, Bakewell, Liverpool and York.  
  • Workshops, involving 225 children were held in a junior school and three secondary schools.
  • Youth activities took place with the Woodcraft Folk in Liverpool and Sheffield.
  • A Ceilidh (for about 60 people) was hosted by Sheffield Quakers. At this the Palestinian young people learnt to dance English/ Irish traditional dance (and loved it!) and they taught us to dance Dabka (a little!).
  • An impromptu performance in Sheffield Peace Gardens.

  • In York a joint dance performance was held with young people from a Hull school.

Other joint activities with local people included a bike ride and picnic around Ladybower Reservoir, Derbyshire, ten pin bowling, a picnic in a local community garden and a barbeque at Ampleforth Abbey.
