Cultural Boycott News
Our goal is to persuade artists and musicians not to perform in Israel. We use online pressure and demonstrations at gigs to make sure that artists who are planning to tour Israel are aware of the reasons why they should not.
LIVE ACTIONS FOR MAY 2012
The Globe Theatre in London is staging an event called Globe to Globe as part of the cultural Olympics. During April, May and June they will put on 37 versions of Shakespeare plays in 37 languages. One of the companies that has been invited to perform is the Habima National Theatre of Israel.
The Boycott movement is asking The Globe to withdraw their invitation to Habima who regularly perform in the West Bank, where settlements are ‘created in violation of International law’. There is a Facebook page ‘Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre don't entertain Apartheid Appeasers Habima’ which encourages anti-apartheid campaigners to comment directly on Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre’s (SGT) official Facebook page wall. Shakespeare's Globe have asked people to email their comments directly to them - info@shakespearesglobe.com but of course facebook is more public. Go via their web site.
