Adie Mormech
Adie Mormech is an ex Manchester university student who has recently returned from 13 months solidarity work in the Gaza Strip. In 2009 Adie was one of 21 human rights workers abducted and imprisoned by Israel after Israeli forces forcibly stopped the fifth attempt by the Free Gaza movement to break the siege of the Gaza Strip. Adie subsequently managed to enter the Gaza Strip and he spent over a year there working with the International Solidarity Movement, taking part in Palestinian led demonstrations against the siege, working with Palestinian students campaigning for an academic boycott of Israel, and teaching in the camps. Adie worked closely with our friend and partner, Dr. Mona El Farra, during his time in Gaza and as well as talking about the general situation in Gaza he will talk about the challenges of being a student in Gaza and the impact that the Scholarship fund has made to the lives of the women that we support.
