Food and Film
Every month we have a fund raising event to raise money for children's projects in Gaza.
This one is for a mobile library. Since it is the Christmas period the traditional falafel will be served with meat. We will also have a preview of the film Sheffield PSC has been committed to for a number of years. We also hope to have a Palestinian film maker present.
It was a very successful event with a number of things coming together. The food consisted of a number of dishes, meat as well as vegetarian. It was delicious. After the meal we were entertained by a Palestinian rapper Ihsan Al Bakri. He was well received. The film maker Mohammed Fores Al Majdalawi showed off some of his work. The films were very interesting in their own right. It was especially interesting for us in Sheffield because Mohammad had attended one of the projects Sheffielod PSC supported. He answered questions about art, life in Gaza and resistance. He is making a film here about our activities in Sheffield Palestine Solidarity Campaign. He intends to show the film to children in Gaza, so that they
understand how and why we give our solidarity so that they can have a life in peace and justice.
The final event was a video of the Palestinian poet Rafif Ziyadah. This was astonishinly powerful and many of us are determined to get her to Sheffield
